Camera Lyrics – Zafar

I’ve been completely stuck on this track “Camera” by Zafar. The whole thing was originally Sidhu Jajjal’s concept, and you can really feel his touch, you know? Then the producers, Jasvirpall Singh and Jagjit Pal Singh, they brought it to life. It’s one of those Punjabi songs that sounds like a party banger but the lyrics, man, they hit different when you really listen.

So the first verse are about looking back, right? He’s talking about how he used to want these simple things, like hanging out by the gates of the neighborhood. And there’s this line about his mom, his bebe, waking up at 4 AM to do her prayers, and how she just lived to see her kids smiling. It sets up this whole contrast between his humble past and where he’s at now. Which is why the hook hits so hard: this jatt has put up a camera at his big gate, and people are going crazy just to get a look. It’s not just a flex, it’s about how his entire world has changed and now everyone’s watching his every move.

Then it gets even more specific. He mentions cruising slowly on his bike, the kure jajan te chade, and how in photos now you can’t even see the friends he used to stand with. That’s cold. There’s this feeling of isolation even in the success. And I love the part where he gives a shoutout to his dad, saying they used to crack jokes with an empty purse but now they’re filling it with notes. But then there’s this need to check on everyone, to see who’s really with him. It’s like the camera isn’t just to show off, but to see who’s actually genuine in the crowd.

The last part of the song is kinda reflective and heavy. He says he hasn’t forgotten the journey or the people he started with. He remembers when no one was on their side, and now those same people have to watch their step because his “laat wajdi” his kick, or his influence, is felt now. And that last verse, man. Talking about broken beds and counting stars, it feels like he’s saying even with all this, there’s a loneliness. The writer, Siddhu Jajjan, and Zafar, whose voice is just pure and smooth like milk, they ask where they can find people to share their true feelings with now. Everyone just wants to see them living large, but no one sees the person inside. So the camera on the gate becomes this powerful symbol for the whole thing. it’s what people see, but it’s also a barrier, you know? It keeps the real world out while everyone just machde dekhan nu.
