Bai G Lyrics – Korala Maan

The track “Bai G” by Korala Maan. Which I believe came out a little while back, was Korala Maan’s own concept and you can really feel his personal touch all over it. The production, handled by Starboy X and Pal Mahla, gives it that gritty, authentic Punjabi vibe that just hits different, you know? Right from the start, the song sets up this contrast between real ones and fake ones. The opening lines, “ni chaaplusi karde ni kaam badle” (they do flattery, work gets exchanged), kind of immediately call out how people swap integrity for personal gain. It’s this idea that a person’s value shouldn’t change just because their circumstances or their “cham” (glamour/luster) does. And that recurring hook, “panj chaar mitran de yaar goriye / thaan-thaan te mitran de bai ni bane” (you only have four or five true friends, girl / you can’t make brothers at every stop), it just hits you. It’s the central thesis, you know? Real friendship isn’t something you can just collect everywhere you go.

Moving into the verses, the writer, Korala Maan himself, paints these really specific pictures of street politics and loyalty. Like, when he says “jatt tera kaagaz haiga kora jaane meriye” (your man’s record is clean, girl), it’s a proud declaration of staying out of trouble, but it’s contrasted with the reality of moving through neighborhoods where you have rivals. There’s this cool line, “bol baani pauna jaj kari jaan / jogiye changi vaali gall saari kaal de ke kahinde aa,” which is basically saying that what the wise ones say at the end of the day is that you should watch your words, that your speech has power. This verse are about understanding the rules of the world he lives in, where some people are just all talk and don’t back it up, “kuch ka bathinde kuch sari vich rahinde aa.”

And then you get to the later parts, which get even more personal and defiant. The whole bit about “hath jane khane naal ni milaaye jaande goriye / vair de pyaar ni palaaye jaande” (hands that are meant to clash don’t get joined together, girl / you can’t nurture love from enmity) is such a powerful way of saying some conflicts are just fundamental, they can’t be resolved with fake peace. I love how he mentions ignoring phone calls and the consequences that come with his actions, it feels very raw and honest. The song ends on this almost philosophical note with “mere hath lakeer’an jittaan di das kihda parhne paavan ni” (the lines on my hands that lead to victory, who can read them?). It’s like he’s saying his destiny, his success, isn’t written for others to decipher or take credit for. It’s a perfect, kind of messy, but deeply relatable end to a track that’s all about knowing who your real circle is in a world full of people just looking out for themselves.
