What is The Meaning Behind “Bulla” by Sardool Sikander?

The song “Bulla” by Sardool Sikander? Yeah, from way back. I was listening to it again and it hit different this time. So the whole thing is basically a Sufi track, like a deep spiritual love song but not in a romantic way, more like a devotion to a spiritual guide, a ‘yaar’. That repeating line “ke bulla yaar di galli pairi ghunghru ban ke nachia” is just… everything. It means like, “I declare, that in the street of my beloved, I dance with anklets on my feet.” It’s this image of someone so lost in love and devotion they’re just dancing freely without a care, you know?

Okay so the verses are where it gets really personal. The singer is saying he’s forgotten how to blink, which is such a cool way to say he’s just completely mesmerized, like he can’t look away. He says his soul had this deep desire to just connect, to lean on his guide’s chest. And then the line “khir gayi yaar de dil nu bhawe kade vi nahi si khachia” is so sad but beautiful, it’s like “I wandered into my beloved’s heart even though I was never invited.” It’s all about this uninvited, maybe even undesired, but overwhelming spiritual connection.

And then the last part I was looking up, it directly references Bulleh Shah, who was a real Sufi saint poet. So the song is kind of channeling that whole vibe. The writer Kanwar Waraich and producer Bally Kakar totally nailed that feeling. It talks about how through songs his wishes are being met, it’s like a spiritual power. And how the color of this devotion, this ‘rang murshadi’, has stained every part of his being. It’s not just a song, it’s like an entire experience of losing yourself in something divine. So good.
